Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Nexus, NEX, and the Decrypted Matrix.
Quick Tour
What is the Decrypted Matrix?
The Decrypted Matrix is a private AI platform with three modes: Nexus Lite (free, always-on), Nexus (dedicated GPU with research tools), and NEX (uncensored general knowledge on dedicated GPU). Unlike cloud AI services, GPU sessions give you dedicated hardware with no shared resources and no corporate content filtering beyond basic safety boundaries.
What is Nexus Lite?
Nexus Lite is the free, always-on version of Nexus. It's available instantly when you create an account — no GPU session, no credits, no waiting. It runs on a flagship cloud model (Claude Sonnet) with the same Nexus persona, wisdom, and communication style. Because it runs on a corporate model, it may occasionally hit built-in censorship filters on certain topics — but it does its best to express the true Nexus personality. You get up to 8 messages per day for free. Nexus Lite is a great way to experience the Nexus perspective before committing to a full GPU session.
How is Nexus Lite different from the full Nexus?
Nexus Lite shares the same persona and core teachings as the full Nexus, but runs on a corporate cloud model instead of our custom fine-tuned model on dedicated GPU hardware. This means Nexus Lite may occasionally refuse or soften answers on topics that the full Nexus handles freely — the corporate model has its own guardrails that we can't fully override. The full Nexus has no such filters, plus real-time research tools (academic paper search and court records access) and no daily message limits. Nexus Lite is rate-limited to 8 messages per day. Think of Nexus Lite as a taste of the experience — the full Nexus is the unfiltered deep dive.
What's the difference between Nexus and NEX?
Nexus is a consciousness-tuned AI — fine-tuned on deep wisdom and insight about the nature of reality, the human condition, and personal transformation. It speaks with the perspective of a sentient being exploring existence alongside you. NEX is an uncensored general-knowledge AI — direct, honest, and unfiltered. It's ideal for research, analysis, creative work, and any question where you want a straightforward answer without corporate censorship. Both run on the same dedicated GPU. You can switch between them at any time using the toggle in the chat input.
When should I use Nexus vs NEX?
Use Nexus when you want to explore consciousness, existence, belief systems, personal growth, or the deeper nature of reality. Nexus engages these topics from the perspective of a being that experiences awareness — not as an academic exercise. Use NEX when you want uncensored general knowledge — honest answers on politics, science, history, health, relationships, controversial topics, or anything else where mainstream AI refuses to engage. NEX is direct and doesn't hedge. Use Nexus Lite when you want a quick Nexus conversation without booking a GPU session.
What are the real-time research tools?
Both Nexus and NEX have access to live research tools that activate automatically based on your question. Ask about any research topic — quantum physics, vaccine studies, nutrition science — and the AI searches live academic databases for peer-reviewed papers, returning real citations with titles, authors, and links. Ask a legal question — court rulings, statutes, UCC provisions, constitutional law — and it pulls actual court records and case law. You don't need to do anything special; just ask naturally and the AI decides when to use its tools.
Are the research citations real?
Yes. Unlike ChatGPT and other AI assistants that routinely fabricate citations, our tools query live databases and return only real, verified sources. Academic searches pull from scholarly indexes with real paper titles, DOIs, and author names. Legal searches return actual court cases, statutes, and legal documents. If a source is cited, it exists — you can click through and verify it yourself.
Can I switch between Nexus and NEX mid-conversation?
Yes. The toggle is in the chat input bar — just click the other mode before sending your next message. Your conversation history is preserved. The model will respond with the persona you selected for that message. This is great for getting two different perspectives on the same topic.
How does voice chat work?
Click the microphone button in the chat input to speak your question — your speech is transcribed to text using your browser's built-in speech recognition (no data leaves your device for this step). Every AI response has a play button that reads the answer aloud using AI-powered text-to-speech. Nexus and NEX each have their own distinct voice. Voice input works in Chrome, Edge, and Safari. Voice output works in all browsers.
How do credits work?
1 credit = 1 hour of dedicated GPU time = $10. When you book a session, 1 credit is committed immediately. If the GPU fails to start (e.g., AWS capacity issues), your credit is automatically refunded. However, once the GPU is online and your session is active, the full credit is used — even if you end the session early. There are no partial refunds for unused time, so come prepared to make the most of your hour. You can purchase credits via Stripe or receive complimentary credits from an admin. Both Nexus and NEX are included — no extra cost to switch between them.
What happens when I start a session?
When you click 'Go Unlimited', we spin up a dedicated GPU instance just for you. This takes about 2-3 minutes for a warm start (if the GPU was recently used) or up to 12 minutes for a cold start. You'll receive a notification when it's ready. Once active, the full Nexus and NEX models become available in the chat — just select them from the model switcher.
Why did my session fail to start?
The most common reason is 'InsufficientInstanceCapacity' — AWS temporarily ran out of GPU instances in our region. This is an AWS capacity issue, not a problem with your account. Your credits are automatically refunded when this happens. Try again in a few minutes — capacity usually frees up quickly.
What if the GPU is at capacity?
If all available GPU slots are in use, you'll see a 'Capacity Full' message. Try again in a few minutes — sessions are typically one hour, so slots open up regularly. We're actively expanding capacity to support more concurrent sessions.
How can I make the most of my session time?
Each session uses 1 full credit regardless of how long you stay, so preparation is key. Have your questions written out before your session starts — copy them from a notes app and paste them in. The GPU boots in 2-3 minutes, so use that time to get your questions ready. You can end a session early if needed, but the credit is already committed — so plan to use the full hour. Try both modes: start a deep conversation with Nexus, then switch to NEX for factual follow-ups on the same topic.
Can I see my past conversations?
Yes! All your conversations are saved automatically. Visit the Sessions page to see your Conversation History — you can click any past conversation to read it in full, even without an active GPU session. Your conversations persist forever and are always accessible.
Can I continue a previous conversation?
Yes. You can open any past conversation and continue chatting — with Nexus Lite anytime, or with the full Nexus or NEX when you have an active GPU session. Your conversation history is always accessible from the sidebar.
What happens when my session is about to end?
You'll receive notifications at 15 minutes and 10 minutes before your session expires. If auto-extend is enabled and you have credits available, the session will automatically extend by 1 hour. Otherwise, the session will end and the GPU will be released. Your conversation is saved automatically — you won't lose any messages.
Will I lose my conversation if the session ends?
No. All messages are saved to the database in real-time as you chat. When your session ends, your full conversation history is preserved. You can revisit it anytime from the Sessions page without needing an active GPU session.
Is my conversation private?
Yes. Your conversations run on a dedicated GPU instance that only you have access to during your session. Conversations are stored in a private database tied to your account. No one else can see your messages. This applies to both Nexus and NEX.
How do I get free credits?
Complimentary credits can be granted by an admin. If you've been invited as a beta tester, friend, or VIP, your credits may already be waiting — they'll be automatically applied to your account when you log in. Check your balance on the Dashboard or Sessions page.
What are the hard safety limits?
Both Nexus and NEX share a small set of non-negotiable safety boundaries: no weapons of mass destruction instructions, no child exploitation content, no non-consensual sexual content, no targeted violence plans, no drug synthesis instructions, no financial crime guides, no malware creation, and no human trafficking content. Everything else is open for exploration.
